Disaster Assistance Center Now Open in Boulder
posted about 7 years ago by Chris from Supporting Resilient Communities, Inc.
The Boulder Disaster Assistance Center is located just northwest of Flatirons Golf Course, at 5495 Arapahoe Ave. on the northwest corner of Arapahoe Avenue and 55th Street, next to Premier Credit Union.
The center will operate from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. seven days a week until the need subsides. Residents are encouraged to come to the center for the help they need or to get answers to their questions. The public is asked to bring paperwork that can assist in verifying identification and residence, and that provides information that can be useful in helping determine what assistance they may qualify for. These documents include driver's licenses, utility bills, social security cards, insurance policy paperwork and other identifying information.
At the assistance center, residents can get information about help with shelter and other housing needs, food, clothing cleanup and recovery assistance, and much more. A wide range of government and non-profit organizations will be on hand to help residents with emergency assistance and long-term needs. Organizations that will be on site include FEMA, Red Cross, Salvation Army, State of Colorado, Department of Local Affairs, Boulder County Housing and Human Services and Public Health, city and county Planning and Public Works, Mental Health Partners, Emergency Family Assistance Association, Southern Baptist, Community Food Share and others.
There is another Disaster Assistance Center also available in Longmont at 1250 South Hover in the Twin Peaks Mall.
